one year

One Year. WoW! That went by sooo fast! In some ways it feels like it's been three years (in a good way) but it's been one really... really... REALLY good year and I'm so thankful for that!

Nick and I decided to celebrate in Austin for our anniversary and we had a great time. It was our first time to go on vacation (other than our honeymoon) so we had a relaxing time eating at fun places thanks to urbanspoon! We also visited a winery, the bats, walked around, ordered in, enjoyed the hot tub, and shopping.

I'm so thankful for marriage and I can truly say that I love Nick more and more everyday. Thank you Lord!

Top 5 things I've learned about marriage:

1. Nick is my number two. I've learned the importance in how important it is to go to the Lord with things and then go to my husband. Nick cannot save me like the Lord can :)

2. Date night! So important to know that at least one night a week is only for us! Being intentional is key.

3. Forgiveness- All the time.

4. Marriage is to sharpen one another. If you look at the sharpening part as the negative part, how will you grow?

5. Fight for everything that you can to make and allow your marriage to be WONDERFUL!!!!! Things in life can and will steal and it is up to the both of you to fight for it.

I'm sure I can and have more things but these are some of the more important ones :)

enjoy my splicing....I just learned how.

Progress!

I've had a few people ask for update pictures of the house! Nick and I bought this house a year ago and are so very thankful! I am still in progress of decorating it (my favorite part) and still need some curtains, countertops, and molding in the kitchen. Other than that no more major things! Here are the before and after pictures of what it looks like so far :)

Lemon CHK

So I've been trying my best to cook new things and not just the same stuff if you know what I mean. I prayed for a husband that can cook (Nick is awesome at cooking) and I am finally getting the hang of it! It is turning into something fun for me! Here is a dish that I made which was inspired from working at Johnny Carino's. This was one of the choices we had served at our wedding. I'll have to say that mine and Nick's opinion, thought it tasted pretty similar to JC!

Lindsey, I know you will appreciate this :)

I did it all from scratch and have home grown basil so you are welcome to pat me on the back :D.

Here is the recipe:

You can make your own Italian Dressing or you can buy one.
Squeeze three lemons into the dressing
Add about 5 or 6 tablespoons of fresh basil...yum!

I used spaghetti but I think it is better with angel hair.
Dice roma tomatoes and add when pasta is al' dente
Add left over dressing for the chicken to the pasta.

There you go!!! SUPER EASY AND SO GOOD! :)

Enjoy!

My Fabulous Finds

I love making nothing into something.....
So Nick and I went to the Beltway garage sale last night for the sneek a peek night and bought some GREAT stuff!! We just bought new couches for our living room last weekend so we were on the look out for coffee tables that we could refinish. You can't see the coffee tables that well in the pictures but I will put updated refinished pictures soon. We had a lot of fun hunting :) Total cost, we paid $42 dollars for all our treasures!

Here are our fabulous finds!

Family Vaca

So, I've decided that I'm not so good at this blog thing although I really enjoy reading others :) I know that I have much to say and experiences to share, but while thinking about typing it all down makes it harder for some reason. I do have some really awesome stories though!

Anyway, this past Easter weekend, Nick, Donny, Kyle, Amy, and I went home to Carlsbad. We visited the famous Carlsbad Caverns while we were there too. It is so much fun to go to. Here is a picture of the inside. It is about 1,300 feet underground and about 150 miles long inside! CRAZY huh!!! I couldn't stop thinking about how big God is and how awesome He is that HE created all of this! If you are looking for a place to vacation..... you have to see the cave!

New Reading

This is the book I've been waiting two weeks for to come in the mail! Lately the Lord has given me dreams every night. Normally I'll have dreams and sometimes remember them but I'm now in a season where I'm getting dreams and the Lord is speaking to me through them. I heard about this book from a trusted friend and am just starting this one. It is so awesome how the Lord can use your hours of sleep to talk and tell you things! SO MUCH FUN!

Suggestions:

Ok so as I was cleaning my house I thought I could blog about this issue, since I am learning how to do this and want to be an overachiever by blogging twice in one day :) I have these two windows in my room and am trying to decide what to do with them. I would LOVE plantation shutters, but with the cost, that is not an option. It would be about $500 just for plantation shutters for these two. No!!! We are not going to do that. So, my second thought is to put Roman Bamboo Shades. What do you think?
So hello everyone! This is my first blog. I've had this account since November and haven't figured out how to use this! Because it is FREEZING outside and have nothing to do (Nick is at work today) I figured it would be a good time to finally figure this blog stuff out.
